Nha Xa

Lying along the Red River with green fields, the Nha Xa silk village has been developed for generations. Popular for its vibrant colors, the silk here has become both domestic and foreign customers’ favorite for years.

Legend has it that in the past, Nhan Hue Vuong, Tran Khanh Du - generals of the Tran Dynasty led an army to defeat the enemy and coincidentally came across a quiet and peaceful village of Nha Xa, prompting them to return. After defeating the Nguyen Mong invaders for the 3rd time, they returned to the village and taught the people here how to raise silkworms, grow silk and weave silk.Because the villagers have ample opportunity to travel and trade with different regions, they have gained more access to new techniques and advanced technologies, which are then swiftly applied to the production of their villages. From woving by manual techniques, now people can weave large fabric samples with any desired length, making more diverse and impressive products.

In the 17th and 18th centuries, Nha Xa silk weaving was on the rise. In 1970-1975, silk and satin products of the craft village participated in the Giang Vo-Hanoi fair of economic and technical achievements, winning 2 gold medals and 2 silver medals. In 2004 recognized as a traditional weaving village, President Tran Duc Luong visited and planted a souvenir leather tree at the craft village. Nowadays, the villagers here still dedicated their lives to continue producing quality silk for not only domestic but worldwide customers as well.
